Are gondolas a possible solution to Beacon's "Train Station Problem"?

In the grand scheme of things, walking a mile uphill from the Metro-North station in Beacon up to the Bank Square section of Main Street is not a major hardship for most people, with taxis and busses providing opportunities for those disinclined to walk. The City of Austin is exploring the possibility of using detachable gondolas to move pedestrians and cyclists over congested city streets.
